Today I’ll be talking about one of my favourite HG face cleansers from the drugstore that is a boon for people with oily, acne-prone skin. I’d been using Cetaphil Skin Cleanser for the longest time but Sebamed Cleansing Foam is what I swear by now!
It’s a lot gentler, non-drying, and doesn’t have a strong smell. Read on to know what changed my mind and why I think this is one of the best cleansers for people facing acne and/or clogged pores.
Price: INR 580 for 200 ml
During the sale, you can find it for INR 520.
Availability: You can buy it from Nykaa.
The cleanser is also available in a 50ml bottle that retails for INR 322 which is perfect if you want to try it out and see how it works for you.

Sebamed Cleansing Foam Review
Sebamed is known for its basic and effective skincare and this cleanser is often recommended by dermatologists to people with oily, combination, and acne-prone skin. When my Cetaphil got over, I thought it’d be a perfect time to try something new!
Sebamed is NOT cruelty-free.
Packaging
The Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Foam comes in a white, opaque bottle with a pump dispenser. The container is very sturdy and high quality, you can feel that luxury by holding it in your hands. Since the bottle is opaque, you can’t actually see the quantity left.
The very convenient pump dispenses the product properly and the well-built bottle makes it travel-friendly.
Texture & Smell

This is a cleansing foam that doesn’t lather much on massaging and leaves the skin clean but not overly dry. The smell is pretty much undetectable. No overly sweet smell no fuzz just a standard facial cleanser that does its job well.
Product Description & Directions

How Does Sebamed cleansing foam Work?
I started using it in September 2018 and have faced no problems with this cleanser yet. It’s a crucial part of my skincare routine and I use it twice a day – morning and evening.
Post rinsing, it leaves my face clean and as soft as a baby’s bum. It feels like I’ve just applied moisturizer on my face. Many cleansers are highly alkaline and strip your skin but Sebamed cleanser has a balanced pH of 5.5 which is ideal for a healthy acid mantle.
The formula is extremely gentle and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin in any way. This cleanser is going to last you a good number of months and is something I’d recommend to everyone with combination and oily skin type.

Except for winters, you (Talking to my oily-skin team) can use this alone and directly apply SPF; no toner or moisturizer is needed. Works really well on preventing mild acne, blackheads, and whiteheads.
While the cleanser helps, you definitely need a chemical exfoliator like The Ordinary Salicylic Acid Solution to make sure your pores are not clogged.
I’d have definitely repurchased it if Sebamed was cruelty-free. But here are a few other cruelty-free cleansers that I tried and loved!

How to use sebamed cleanser?
I need one pump for my entire face and use it in the morning and at night. On a damp face, massage it lightly for 30 seconds, keep it on for 2 minutes and rinse off. The Sebamed cleansing foam is not enough to remove makeup and sunscreen, you have to do a double cleanse at night!
Conclusion
If you’re someone facing acne, blackheads or whiteheads, or just looking for a good cleanser for your oily skin, this is what you need! Since this is very gentle and isn’t drying at all, it might work well for people with dry skin as well.

Can I use face serum after using this face wash?
Rifat Yaseen says
Yes!
Sapna says
Great review…just one thing…it does actually have fragrance. If you see the ingredients list, they have listed parfum which means perfume only. But a little bit of fragrance in a wash off formula is not a major problem.
Rifat Yaseen says
Hey, thank you for pointing that out. I cross-checked and yes it does have fragrance. I’ll be more careful the next time when it comes to missing out on small details!

Can you suggest a good day and night cream?
I have been using the neutrogena oil free moisturiser but recently I looked up the ingredients list and found out that it contains parabens, PEGs, and dimethicone which is not good for oily skin.
Rifat Yaseen says
If the Neutrogena cream has been working for you then go ahead. These 3 ingredients aren’t bad for your skin, don’t fall into rumors. But if you want to make a switch try Plum Aloe or Green Tea moisturiser in case you’re under a strict budget else try COSRX aloe cream or Pixi phenomenal gel.

Hey Rifat,
Thank you so much for recommending this product. It came yesterday and i used it before bed and again this morning and my face feels amazing. I do have a question though, you said if a person has flawless skin, to avoid this product. I won’t say I have flawless skin but I definitely don’t have acne, maybe blocked pores because I never use any cleanser lol. Is this still a good product for me? I mean I have no complaints right now but will love to know. Thank you again.
Rifat Yaseen says
Ooh yes, it is!! I consider it to be one of the most basic cleansers that helps in cleansing your skin as well as taking care of clogged pores. Thank you for buying it on my recommendation and you should still keep using it. By flawless skin, I meant for people who don’t have excessively oily skin or blackheads, etc.

Great review! I’m using The Ordinary salicylic acid for my acne and it’s working pretty well. I might try this too!

Thank you so much! I want to try the ordinary salicylic acid as well. Have used their glycolic acid and niacinamide and I’m now a fan of the brand!
Madhan says
I have a black heads on my face it will remove
Rifat Yaseen says
Nope. Not completely. Try The Ordinary 2% Salicylic acid solution for that on alternate nights after thoroughly cleansing your face. And follow up with a moisturiser. This product works well on acne and blackheads!
Off a Small Island says
Oh I love this brand, I use a few of their products regularly (their mattifying cream is great for keeping away midday shine) I haven’t tried this so I may have to give it a go!
Rifat Yaseen says
I’ll give the mattifying cream a try definitely. My oily skin could use something like this. Thanks for suggesting! 🙂

That foaming cleanser sounds great…I like your tips at the end and I do agree not to use many products on face at the same time…thanks for review..❤️

Hi, I have a question–I started using this seba med face wash and it got rid of my pimples and acne and made my skin really clear but after a few days, it started to dry out my skin and now my skin looks like it is burnt and I have dark patches all over.
Is there something that I am doing wrong or is the face wash just not working for me??
Please help me!! Thank you!
Rifat Yaseen says
Hey! That shouldn’t be the case since it has been like 7-8 months that I’m using this face wash. Are you sure it’s because of the cleanser only? How many times are you using it in a day plus do you use sunscreen? Maybe, keep the face wash away for a while and apply aloe vera gel to calm your skin.
