Hello you guys! Long time, no see? Well, I am trying to be more active and today I’m here with a blog on my favourite makeup brushes that I’ve had for almost 3 years now!
Yes! 3 years and still going strong. Stronger than most people’s relationship these days (no offense!) ?
Without taking much time, I’ll take you through these Real Techniques Core Collection Set which comes in a set of 4 brushes i.e.
- Buffing Brush
- Pointed Foundation Brush
- Contour Brush
- Detailer Brush
About the brand
Founded by renowned makeup artists Samantha and Nicola Chapman, Real Techniques produces professional quality makeup brushes, sponges, applicators, and accessories that are both stylish and functional.
Price: Around ₹2-3K. A bit too expensive as compared to their dollar price which was around $11-12 when I bought them.
Availability: Since they’re a bit old, availability is an issue. Don’t go for Flipkart and Amazon ones as they’re generally not authentic.
MY THOUGHTS
Packaging: The handle of these brushes are neither too lightweight nor too heavy, just the right weight so that you get a decent hold. The bristles are very soft and densely packed. None of them absorbs a lot of makeup.
1. Real Techniques Buffing Brush
Product Description: Ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation.

My entire base makeup is incomplete without this treasure! Meant for powder-based products but I use it to buff my liquid foundation, setting powder, pressed powder, to apply blush and sometimes bronzer. This is a multi-tasker! Look at that densely packed, slightly dome-shaped brush.
I do feel my life, okay fine! my makeup is incomplete without this brush because this is all I need to do my face.
2. Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush
Product Description: Use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage.

This is a pointy flat foundation brush that I use for everything except foundation! I use this mainly with colour correctors and concealers. All I do is pat it and my concealer is all blended and set.
The pointy end makes it easier to reach the inner portion of eyes. I use the same for setting my eye area with powder sometimes.
The only key here is to Pat, Pat, Pat!
3. Real Techniques Contour Brush
Product description: Delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer soft-focus finish.

This is a small fluffy, round-shaped brush that’s great when you want a lighter hand. I use it for blush, contour, highlight and setting face with powder. This is the softest of the lot. It would work great with powder/ mineral foundations too.
4. Real Techniques Detailer Brush
Product description: Precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas or use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition.

This brush is another favourite as it helps, as the name suggests, in getting those details right. It includes highlighting the inner corner, applying a dark shade of lipstick with precision or correcting that lipstick when you mess it up with a concealer.
It can also be used for applying a gel eyeliner but I haven’t used it for that as I don’t have a gel liner.
How do I keep them clean?
I have never experienced shedding of bristles in these 3 years and just wash it regularly with a normal soap or shampoo. Sometimes when I’m super lazy which is quite often I just clean them with makeup removers or micellar water.

CONCLUSION
Real Techniques have launched several great brushes but I don’t feel the need of buying them given how well these brushes perform. They have been my go-to since I bought them and every brush has been useful. Also, these brushes are completely cruelty-free.
The brushes provide effortless makeup application and I’d definitely recommend all of you to invest in these. They’re also super affordable!
Some brushes are also available standalone so you can get them if you don’t need the entire set.
